One quick scroll through Instagram or mosey through Pinterest and - BAM! - suddenly you're lost down the rabbit hole of room design overload. Never fear dear pets, because we've got all the baby bedroom inspo you need thanks to our fave gurl, Emily Collie of Melbourne Girl. With this being our favourite time of the year to celebrate the lil' people (psst... have you got your Bonds Baby Search 2017 entry in yet?) we asked Emily to reveal the story behind creating her baby girl's bedroom. So. Freaking. Cute.
From Melbourne Girl's Emily Collie...
I am certainly not a decorating professional, however I do love to style my home, including my kids' rooms.
Milla’s nursery has evolved over the past 12 months, it was full of gender neutral tones before she was born (as her sex was a surprise) so the base of the styling is still black, white and grey. I’ve slowly added some pastel touches including the Eef Lillemor prints I mounted in IKEA frames and the wooden names blocks, which are great for play and display.
The room is quite small, so I have to hold back making too many purchases to avoid cluttering the space. Features in the room include a Miffy Lamp, Dolls Crib and the in-built bookshelf with a name print I designed myself. The ‘M’ letter light and a collection of girly accessories I couldn’t resist buying.
My go-to stores for kids interior pieces are Leo and Bella and Wiggles Piggles.
I will no doubt change the theme and layout of the room as she grows older (including the wooden doll house, which she received for Christmas). But as a base I love a Scandinavian approach, where a room is stripped back to basics to achieve a blank canvas to be layered with furniture and décor.
