BABY NURSERY DECORATING: HOW TO KICK UP THE CUTE FACTOR

By The Bonds Team

Continuing our series of inspiring baby bedroom ideas we asked mama/photographer/Instagrammer, Thuie, to share her nursery decorating ideas. As someone who is all about the visual, who better to get the design lowdown from? Especially when her little one's nursery is as freakin' cute as this one (adorable dog not included!) Scroll on and swoon...

From Thuie...

A bedroom should be a fun, practical place for bonding. For some of us, styling a baby’s bedroom can be daunting at times but it’s never been easier with the access of inspiration on social media. Start with a simple vision compiled with a few key pieces you would like to be the highlight or the hero of the room. Whether it's a piece of artwork, chair or feature wall, these items should have a similar theme or colour palette that work towards one overarching look you'd like to achieve.

Don’t be afraid to shop anywhere and mix it up. You can gather some amazing pieces online, from small Australian businesses and even your local Salvos store. If you can’t find what you are after, DIY projects are a fun way to get everyone involved.

Give it your personal flair. It’s hard not to fall into styling trends that are flooded online but a child’s room should be unique and reflect their personality. Add a little twist. If they like nature, why not add foliage or flowers to their room? A simple pocket of greenery here and there can inject character into a space.

If you decide to have a little reading nook, consider investing in a chair or a comfy spot to encourage them to read and learn. The fun thing about chairs is that they can be spiced up with coloured cushions when it’s time for a revamp.

Rugs can turn a harsh looking room into somewhere cosy and inviting. Unless you want to make a statement, these are best left with a neutral palette. A good bedroom should have considerations for storage, whether it is a toy box, baskets or shelves. An easy way to keep tidy is a sure way to keep both parents and babies happy.

Lastly, have fun. Like all rooms in the house, things can be rearranged or replaced when its time for a makeover.
