OUR COMMITMENT TO EMPLOYEE AND WORKER RIGHTS
We are committed to being a leader in ethical sourcing practices and the removal of worker exploitation in apparel. We also recognise that everyone who works for us has the right to fair pay.
Our parent company, HanesBrands, owns the majority of its factories unlike most other apparel brands, and we are proud to lead the industry in our positive treatment of our employees. We provide our employees with compelling jobs and pay whilst also investing in their local community. Where we do source from third-party suppliers, we hold these partners to the same high standards to which we hold ourselves.
None of our Bonds product is sourced from Bangladesh. In Vietnam, we have a decade-long track record of owning ethically run factories which have been visited and reviewed by world-renowned news media outlets, including the New York Times and internationally recognized nongovernmental organizations, including the Worker Rights Consortium.
Whilst there are many non government bodies such as Oxfam committed to improving working conditions through setting of their own standards for organisations to meet, HanesBrands chooses to be a fully accredited member of the Fair Labour Association (FLA) which is a global leader in the promotion and protection of workers’ rights. This underpins our own global standards which all of our manufacturing supply, owned and third party, must comply with. We monitor compliance through extensive, ongoing audits of factories, and setting clear non-negotiable standards. Where a supplier does not show an ongoing commitment to these standards, we remove them from our supply base.
Our commitment is working. Independent academic research at our company-owned facilities shows that families with at least one HanesBrands employee are paid to meet their basic needs along with resources to spend on discretionary items. Some of the compensation components include annual bonuses, school supplies for children of employees, subsidised meals, health insurance and subsidised transportation.
