Last Chance to See The Rubens at Bright Night
Posted in: people
UND0345_700x350_V1 You've only got a few more hours left to win a stellar night with you, nine of your closest friends and The Rubens - all thanks to your good ol' buddy, Bonds. All you've gotta do is grab your fave Collectibles, answer a simple question and you and your mates could be attending a chic VIP-only event filled with delish drinks and canapés at Sydney’s the Rook, while being treated to a cozy acoustic gig by The Rubens. And if you don't live in Sydney, never fear, because we'll fly you from anywhere in Aus just to be there! To get you in the mood, we sat down with The Rubens' drummer, Scott Baldwin, and asked him a few tricky questions. But first, here's how to enter: Step 1 Buy any of the Bonds Collectibles range and hang onto your proof of purchase. Step 2 Go to facebook.com/bonds, like the Bonds page and click on the “Bright Night” tile to enter your details. Mobile users can enter here. Step 3 Then answer: “Tell us in 25 words or less why you and your friends deserve your own Bright Night.” Don’t forget to check out the terms and conditions! rubens-V2 And without further adieu, here's out chat with Scott! How would you describe your band in one sentence? We are getting better. What are each of your top four things to take on tour? Bose noise canceling headphones, ear buds for a bit of ear scratchy scratchy, never go anywhere without a jumper and of course a phone goes without saying. Can you remember when you laughed the hardest on tour? What happened? When I forgot to play the opening part of ‘Lay it Down’ .......wait. I wasn’t laughing. Now I am. If you had to choose another name to call the band, what would it be? The Rubarbs! Because that’s what all my mates call us as a joke. What has been your favourite fan moment so far? Some time last year we were driving around Mackay and some girls in a car next to us were beeping and yelling out of the car. We were thinking to ourselves "oh wow our first fans!" HOWEVER shortly after, the girls in the car hold up a sign telling us that Elliott looks like Harry Styles from One Direction. HAHA we don’t let him forget it. It’s really hard to pin point a specific moment. We are always blown away by crowds turning up and hanging around afterwards. I honestly think the university students down in Canberra were all so enthusiastic and encouraging. We did a small acoustic gig in the courtyard and everyone was so fun and friendly. If you could choose anyone (living or dead) to be in your next video clip, who would it be? William Zeglis, he is now our bassist and hasn’t been involved in any videos yet but now is an official member of The Rubens. And we want Andre 3000!!!! If you could choose anyone (living or dead) to create your next album cover, who would it be? Absolutely no idea!! If you could ask for any rider at all (money is not an issue) what would each of you choose? Five cases of beer, steak and free Wi-Fi is good for me. If you could pick/save three albums from a burning house, which ones would they be? Well firstly I probably wouldn’t worry too much about my record collection. All our records are now stored in the roof. I'd hope to save Cindy and Tessa (our two labradors) before finding the ladder and scrambling through the dust and hot flames to find Metallica’s S&M concert and my Tracy Chapman and Van Morrison collections. If you didn’t ever want to be found, where in the world would you go? Tasmania. Was that too far?........... Come on it’s an Australian joke. We love you Tasmania! Where’s the best place in Aus to get a Reuben sanga? We really are the wrong people to ask. We did a Reuben sandwich taste test day in Sydney for Timeout magazine and it was DISGUSTING! Anyway, the best one I've had is Felix in Sydney. What type of undies do you wear? Bonds of course. The short ones. Not the undie looking ones.
