We take a look at another one of the epic mate battles for this year's
Mate V Mate! This is definitely one of the more physical and, let's just say 'sweatiest', of the challenges so far.
After checking in with
the Bondi Rescue boys, Trent ‘Maxi’ Maxwell and Troy ‘Gonzo’ Quinlan, to hear about their race for the Cancer Council NSW‘s inaugural Mate V Mate (March 16th to the 24th) we had a chat with
Chris Taylor and Andrew Hansen (of
The Chaser fame), and now we got the low-down from James Castrission and Justin Jones!
You probably know the boys better as
Cas and Jonesy; ask their
website and it'll tell you, 'Cas and Jonesy are two Aussie Explorers constantly pushing the boundaries of human endurance.'
No-one has
ever made it walking from the edge of Antarctica to the South Pole and back without any help. Until January 2012, when the boys finished the longest unsupported polar expedition of all time! At the moment they are in the middle of a swamp in the United States (as you do), but before that they were keen to get involved in anything that a) involved a worthy challenge and b) helps to find and destroy Cancer!

Luckily, Mate v Mate was founded on those exact two things! It's also about getting the word out there, because as we all know, blokes are less likely to visit their GP and get regular check-ups than women. So, spread the word! And while you're here, check out the video they made:

Cas and Jonesy answered a few of our pre-game questions, all of which showed that the competitiveness is
strong in these best mates:
Tell us an embarrassing story about your mate while out on a challenge.
Cas: While paddling across the Tasman, from Australia to NZ, often when a big wave broke over us he'd squeal like a teenage girl!
Jonesy: I'll never forget when we were 18, we decided to walk around Fraser Island. One evening Cas was going to the dunny when a dingo took
a lot of interest in what he was doing. I don't think I'll be able to forget the image of him trying run away with his pants around his ankles!
Who’s got the best BBQ skills?
Cas: Gotta say Jonesy. He loves meat more than any human probably should!
Jonesy: I love my food, so I'm going to pick me...but he does do a MEAN lamb spit.
Who’s the better driver?
Cas: Jonesy's a lunatic! Enough said.
Jonesy: Tough one; on-road, same. Off-road, I'd pick Cas any day of the week.
What undies do you think your mate wears?
Cas: When in the Arctic: Icebreaker all the way.
Jonesy: I reckon he's a briefs man.
Why are you going to win?
Cas: Attitude. Because I CAN'T lose (it's a male pride thing!).
Jonesy: Hmmm I'm not sure if I will, gravity isn't my friend so I figure this should be a handicap race where Cas has to wear a weight vest to get to my weight, then I'd smash him!
Thanks for your time, guys!
