Seeing Red with Bambi Northwood Blyth
Posted in: people

We couldn't wait to get our latest Originals sweats range (in red no less!) onto one of our all-time favourite models, Bambi Northwood Blyth. We recently caught up with the 26-year-old Aussie to find out what a typical day for her looks like and what originality means to her.

What do you love most about what you do?

The PEOPLE. And it kind of blew my mind the other day that I'm coming up to 10 years in the industry and I'm still as excited as I was on day one, and still challenged. I love the way the industry is right now. Also, the travel is a massive pro. But also a con.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Always an early riser, but on a shooting day, it's out the door, off to work and I'm usually walking home or getting some head space after. On a day off, it's up early, studying (I'm currently studying at Ducere Business School) then off on a run, meeting some friends, it always changes. But it always has a killer soundtrack in the background!

What’s been your proudest achievement to date so far and why?

Hmmm, maybe my work ethic. Or the ability to keep on going. But you might need to call my mum for that. I'm sure she has more to say!

Who has been your biggest inspiration and why?

Family.

What does originality mean to you?

I think confidence creates originality. If you have the confidence to do what's in your heart, only you have what's in there - that's original. So, I guess a true sense of self. Wow, that was deep!

Do you have a go-to style or look?

Denim and a white tee. But I always love a matching suit or a two-piece. I'm either in denim-on-denim or sweatpant-on-sweat shirt.

What are your favourite Originals items/colours?

Red - it's the best! But not if you want to blend in.

What five things can you not live without?

Insulin, friends, family and constant contact, my iPhone, my favourite scarf, and cucumbers!

What advice do you have for someone trying to break into your industry?

WORK HARD and be yourself. I know it's been said, but really, if it's meant to happen it will, but you can't get past without a strong work ethic and good vibes.

What’s on the agenda for 2018?

It's a busy one, but continuing my modelling, graduate, see some more places, work out how to become a ninja officially, and be more like Virgil Abloh.
