Big BAG news: Your Bonds deliveries just got a whole lot kinder! You asked for a more sustainable alternative to our packaging, and so we’ve been busily working on a solution that steps up our shipping game by reflecting our mission to reduce our environmental footprint. Because here at Bonds, sustainability doesn’t end after a garment has been made.
Behold… our new more sustainable satchels, a.k.a. “goodie bags,” made from 90% post-consumer recycled plastic. Woo-hoo!
You can tell it’s one of our new bags because it features the Australasian Recycling Label (ARL) and recycling instructions. We’ve worked closely with the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation to introduce a more sustainable shipping option for our customers.
How can I recycle it?
Our new satchels can be recycled through REDcycle, a national recycling program that prevents them from ending up in landfill. While most councils don’t collect soft plastics from your home, you can find REDcycle drop-off bins at most major supermarkets Australia-wide. For your nearest REDcycle location, click here.
What happens to it after I recycle it?
REDcycle works with their recycling partners to convert it into recycled indoor and outdoor furniture, signage and Tonerplas, a sustainable asphalt additive used for road infrastructure. Pretty neat, huh? For more on how REDcycle works, visit their website.
How can I reuse it?
Dual closure seals along the top of the satchel allows you to turn it inside out and reuse it. It’s as simple as that!
Work in Progress
Our plans to become a more sustainable brand are far from finished, you might say we’re a work in progress. We will continue to update you as we introduce new and exciting improvements in this space – stay tuned! In the meantime, make sure to check out our other important sustainability initiatives here.
