She's the model who is making waves across the globe for her stance on diversity. Now, Duckie Thot is back on Aussie soil to front our latest Bonds Originals sweats campaign alongside a crew of homegrown originators including Grammy award-winning superstar, Flume.
'I want to see more different faces. I want to see more different races and different people and different things I haven't seen before,' the Sudanese-born, Melbourne-raised model recently told The Sunday Telegraph. 'It is across the board globally and it is in every single market. It is a push that needs to happen and it is being done. Even with the last few (fashion) seasons, we are seeing a massive turnaround across the board. It is lovely to see.'
What do you love most about what you do?
I love my job. It gives me the opportunity to express myself and travel the world. I'm very lucky.
What does a typical day look like for you?
Madness! Casting, training sessions and lots of meetings!
What’s been your proudest achievement to date so far and why?
Working with Tim Walker on the all-black Alice In Wonderland Pirelli Calendar has been a huge career highlight. It was a dream to be featured around people like Naomi Campbell.
Who has been your biggest inspiration and why?
Gisele Bündchen and Michelle Obama are both incredibly inspiring to me as a woman and a model. I'm in awe of them both.
What does originality mean to you?
Being original means being true to myself - to know that I'm being unapologetically me.
Do you have a go-to style or look?
I'm really into the Athleisure look right now - it takes me from flights to castings.
What’s your favourite Originals sweats item?
The red Originals hoodie - it’s amazing. One of my travel must-haves.
What five things can you not live without?
My phone, laptop, music, my diary and cocoa butter.
What advice do you have for someone trying to break into your industry?
Always act like a professional. Whether it's your first shoot or the Pirelli Calendar, I always make sure I treat everyone with respect.
What’s on the agenda for 2018?
BIG THINGS! Elevating my image and working with more amazing people! I can't wait for the next chapter.
How do you maintain a sense of self and authenticity in an industry like modelling?
I do my best to stay as grounded as possible. I’m also really close to my family so that helps me out a lot.
