'I Saw Myself' a film in celebration of Pride
Posted in: community

In honour of Pride Month, we've collaborated with LGBTQIA+ creator, Alessandro Zotti, to capture "the moment you see yourself, your real self, for the very first time."

The filmmaker has created and captured a visual environment where "each queer person can be their most authentic self, away from the outside world, alone with space to grow and room to be who they are inside, and that space is their bedroom." Check out the video below...

Here is what a few of the stars of the film said about what Pride means to them...

“To see me is to feel entirely aligned with both my inner world and my outward projection. How the world receives me. To see myself is to feel at peace in my own body, to feel grounded and present.  I look forward to a world where our queerness no longer has to be conflated with pride. Because we just are. A world without shame.” - Millie (she/they)

"Pride to me is to remember and celebrate fearlessly. The room is not just for certain people but for everyone, and everyone's voice should be heard loud and clear." - Yuzhen (he/him)

"I see me before I am seen. Being black and queer is my invisibility. But I’ll be loud and proud before I am silenced. Thank you to those before me, who fought for our rights as we keep fighting for our rights." - Winnie (she/her)

"It’s holding my partner's hand in public and guiding younger ones to follow us into a world where seeking the acceptance of others starts with accepting yourself." - Nola (she/her)
