A Womanifesto by Arabella Peterson
Posted in: people

When considering who to ask to provide an essay on what queendom means to them, we couldn't go past Arabella Peterson, editor-in-chief of The Ladies Network, a multi-platform agency for female-identifying and gender fluid creatives. Here is her womanifesto...

Everywhere I look I see women with strength, morals and conviction. Women who stay true to themselves and who aren’t afraid to put themselves out there for a cause, or question the ways things are done. To me, the message of the ‘Join the Queendom’ campaign is about staying true to our beliefs while celebrating each other for theirs; lifting one another up to be the best versions of ourselves with kindness, rather than tearing each other down.

In an era filled with buzzwords and companies riding the wave of ‘empowerment’, staying true to ourselves can be a challenge. So, when a company can back up their words with actions, I believe that’s really something worth getting on board with. Bonds’ goals and commitments to environmental sustainability, A- rating on the Baptist World Aid Ethical Fashion Report and their community partnership with Reach Foundation to support Australian youth really does make me proud to ‘Join the Queendom’.

When I consider the message of this campaign, I think about how lucky I am to be empowered to take a stance on my own principles and make my own decisions. I believe solidarity is embracing and celebrating our differences and our similarities in equal parts. It’s our responsibility to keep each other informed, develop our own set of ideals and do what we can to stay true to them. Women are asking questions and challenging the status quo more than ever before; and to me this unity, spirit and collective goal is the essence of ‘Join the Queendom’.
